Your role

As a trainee in the Language Support and Innovation Section, you will:

process incoming language services requests and liaise with requesters;

coordinate editing and translation projects;

help manage the very busy shared inbox;

evaluate and optimise workflows and processes;

contribute to procurement procedures, e.g. by carrying out market research;

perform vendor management tasks, e.g. assigning work to the Division’s external providers and creating purchase orders;

support the team with collecting, maintaining, cleansing, analysing and processing data;

establish and maintain relationships with all parties involved in work processes, both in and outside the Section.

The traineeship offers you excellent opportunities to gain insight into the work of a language services division in an EU institution and use state-of-the-art language technology tools. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:

a bachelor’s degree or higher with a specialisation or focus in modern languages, translation, business, public administration or another relevant field;

excellent written and verbal communication skills;

attention to detail;

an ability to think analytically and creatively;

a very good knowledge of the MS Office package;

an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the .

Desired:

familiarity with computer-assisted translation, low-code development platforms or other automation tools;

an interest in multilingual communication.

You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people’s diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe.
