Trainee (f/m/x) – Graduate Program R&D with focus on Embedded System Design

With the graduate program, ZEISS sends you on your individual path. The focus is on your development – both professionally and personally.
You will rotate through different departments and build up your personal network in order to successfully start into your future role. The Graduate Program creates the basis for your start at ZEISS. You determine your own direction.

During the 18 months, you will rotate between four different ZEISS stations across the company's different business units and possibly also abroad. Which departments these are depends on your chosen focus and your future role. During the program, you will also take part in several training sessions, workshops and project work for professional and personal development. All this is aims at enabling you to hit the ground running after completing the program.

Possible tasks within the program: 

• You will work on next generation embedded systems for life sciences or industrial manufacturing ​in a team with other scientists and engineers
• An opportunity to build the foundation for several next-generation products
• The possibility to learn and implement cutting edge methods from embedded electronics, AR/VR visualization, computer vision and more
• Mentorship by experienced PhD-level experts

• Completed field of study in electronics, computer sciences, mathematics, physics or similar
• Practical experience gained, for example, as a intern or working student (maximum of 1,5 years)
• You have coding experience (like Python, C# and RUST) and ideally, you are familiar with the ARM architecture
• Ideally You have worked with integrated sensors like ToF or Lidar in Smartphones
• You want to design new products holistically, making best use of hardware and software com-ponents and understanding both worlds
• You are interested in technology and motivated to work on challenging tasks
• You are willing to learn and explore with a high degree of initiative and creativity
• You are willing to collaborate and work in complementary teams
• Flexibility to work at different ZEISS locations in Germany during the program 
• Fluent in English & German, both written and spoken
